Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about BUXA HOMES engineered timber flooring, flooring packages, installation, maintenance, warranty, and delivery.

Product & Materials

What is engineered timber flooring?

Engineered timber flooring is real timber flooring constructed with a natural wood surface layer over a stable multi-layer core. This structure helps improve dimensional stability compared with traditional solid timber flooring.

Is BUXA HOMES flooring real wood?

Yes. BUXA HOMES engineered flooring features a real European oak surface veneer, combined with an engineered plywood core for strength, stability, and long-term residential performance.

Are knots, grain variation, and colour differences normal?

Yes. Natural knots, mineral streaks, grain movement, colour variation, and texture differences are inherent characteristics of genuine timber flooring and are not considered defects.

What is Tongue & Groove flooring?

Tongue & Groove, often called T&G, is a precision-milled edge system that helps flooring planks fit securely together for a stable and refined installation.

Flooring Packages

What is included in a BUXA HOMES flooring package?

Our current flooring package concept focuses on three essential components: engineered timber flooring, underlay, and skirting boards. This helps customers build a more complete flooring solution.

Can I buy flooring only?

Yes. You can purchase engineered timber flooring only, or choose additional underlay and skirting boards depending on your project requirements.

Do underlay and skirting boards need to match the flooring colour?

Underlay is generally not style-dependent. Skirting boards are usually selected based on the interior style, wall colour, and desired architectural finish.

Installation

Can BUXA HOMES flooring be floated or glued down?

Depending on the product and site condition, engineered timber flooring may be suitable for floating or glue-down installation. Always follow the BUXA HOMES Installation Guide and consult a qualified installer.

Do I need professional installation?

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Correct subfloor preparation, moisture testing, expansion gaps, and installation method are important for flooring performance and warranty eligibility.

Is engineered timber flooring suitable for underfloor heating?

It may be suitable when all installation and heating-system requirements are followed. The system must be compatible with engineered timber flooring and temperature limits must be controlled carefully.

What subfloor preparation is required?

The subfloor should be clean, dry, level, smooth, and structurally sound before installation. Moisture testing and suitable underlay or vapour barrier systems may be required depending on site conditions.

Care & Maintenance

Can I use a steam mop?

No. Steam mops can expose timber flooring to excessive heat and moisture, which may cause warping, edge damage, surface issues, or reduced performance.

How should I clean engineered timber flooring?

Remove loose dirt with a soft broom or vacuum using a hard-floor attachment. Use cleaners specifically designed for timber floors and avoid excessive water.

Can I use rugs or mats?

Avoid placing rugs or mats on newly installed flooring for the first six months where possible. If mats are necessary, move them regularly to reduce uneven colour change or oxidation.

How should spills be handled?

Spills should be wiped up immediately using a clean, soft cloth. Do not allow standing water or liquids to remain on the flooring surface for extended periods.

Warranty

What does the warranty cover?

Warranty coverage generally applies to manufacturing defects and approved residential use, provided the product is installed, maintained, and used according to BUXA HOMES guidelines.

What is not covered by warranty?

Common exclusions include improper installation, water damage, misuse, pet damage, scratches, impact damage, unsuitable site conditions, and incorrect maintenance.

Are natural timber features covered as defects?

No. Natural timber characteristics such as knots, colour variation, mineral streaks, and grain differences are part of the natural material and are not considered defects.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes. BUXA HOMES is positioned to support Australia-wide delivery for flooring, underlay, and skirting board orders.

How is flooring delivered?

Flooring is typically packed in cartons and delivered as a heavy building material. Delivery access, unloading conditions, and project timing should be considered before placing an order.

Can I order samples?

Sample availability depends on current product setup. Samples are recommended before final flooring selection because natural colour and grain variation may occur.
